Qualities of Good Men
Look Up
Put it down. The people in front of you are your life.
Look up. Be here. It's the only place your life is actually happening.
A glowing rectangle four inches from your face, and a whole world going by unseen — a sky, a street, a person who loves you. Your kid asks you the same thing three times. Your wife tells a story to the top of your head. The screen gives you everything except the one thing that matters: your actual life.
So look up. The people in front of you are not an interruption of your life — they are your life. Nobody ever lay dying and wished they'd scrolled more. Look the man across from you in the eye. Watch your kid try something hard and fail and try again. See the sky do something it will never do exactly that way again.
